How to Create a QR Code for a URL

Make a scannable QR code for a landing page, campaign URL, menu, form, or event link.

Start with the final URL

Create the exact link first, including UTM parameters if you need campaign tracking. Open the link once before turning it into a QR code.

Keep the code easy to scan

Shorter URLs usually create simpler QR codes. If the QR code has too many tiny squares, use a clean redirect URL or a short campaign URL that you control.

  • Leave white space around the QR code.
  • Use enough contrast between code and background.
  • Test it from the distance people will actually scan it.

Download the right size

Use a larger PNG for print and a smaller one for web pages. After downloading, scan the final design, not just the preview in the generator.
